Junior Tennis
Details of the junior tennis coaching that we offer this season (2008)
are provided below.
Coaching Programme Juniors are very welcome to come along
to junior coaching on Wednesday evenings, with our new coach, Dave
Reade, and Alex Thornton. In addition to the coaching, juniors will have
priority on two courts on Tuesday evenings (from 6pm) and Saturday
afternoons (from 2pm). See Junior Play Regulations
for further details. Wakefield Tennis Club offers a range of junior
coaching groups on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer term:
4.15-5.00 (mini red 1) – for players 4-5 yrs. (Rackets are
provided.)
5-5.45pm (mini red 2) – for players 5-6 years. (Rackets are
provided.)
6-7pm – for players 7-10 years. (Rackets are provided.)
7-8pm – for players 11-16 years.
Junior coaching starts on Wednesday 9th April 2008.
There will be 10 weekly coaching sessions – 7 prior to half-term and 3
after half-term. At no extra cost, all players (except mini red 1 and 2)
may also enter a singles tournament on 25th June and a doubles
tournament on Wednesday 2nd July (followed by trophy presentations). NB
There will not be a session on Wednesday 28th May, 2008
(half-term week).
Depending on how many players sign up, we may have to limit the number
of players for each coaching group – places will be booked on a first
come first served basis. Please complete and return the enclosed
application form, with your payment by Friday 28th March, 2008.
Please turn up at the time you request on Wednesday 9th April unless you
hear otherwise. NB Coaching will continue through light rain and will
only be cancelled if rain is very heavy.
If you have any queries regarding junior coaching, please contact Peggy
Elstobb (0113 2826712) or David Burton (01924 361973).
We look forward to seeing you.
Thank you

Junior Play Regulations
Juniors have priority of play on the two courts furthest away from the
pavilion on Tuesday evenings from 6pm and on Saturday afternoons from
2pm. NB Priority on one of these courts may be given to a junior who has
booked individual coaching
During these times juniors can play on a first come, first served basis.
If players are waiting, singles players must offer half the court to
allow others to play or play doubles.
If there are four players on each court and players are waiting, play
time should be limited to half an hour to allow others to play.
Parents/adults may play with juniors as long as other juniors are not
waiting.
Juniors may use the other two tennis/netball courts if these are not
being used by seniors.
Juniors may not use the courts next to the pavilion.
